
Suzan Lamens Thursday, despite a good performance, failed to ensure a stunt against Iga Swiateek in the second round of the US Open. The best tennis star in the Netherlands took a set, but lost 1-6, 6-4 and 4-6.
In the first set it went rapidly in the immense Arthur Ashe Stadium, the largest stadium in the world. Swiatek immediately ran out to 3-0 and at that stand the 26-year-old Lamens, who was on the center court of a Grand Slam for the first time, managed to give something back.

“I made quite a few mistakes, but I am glad that I was a bit less sloppy at the end. I felt that the result depended on me,” Swiateek said in the interview afterwards.
“It became exciting in the second set and she grabbed her chances. The third set was a kind of reset and I started better than in the previous sets. I had faith in my service and I am happy that I finished it quite convincingly.”
