Kim-Lian van der Meij plays again in musical after twelve years: 'Waited for the right role'

Kim-Lian van der Meij will play a role in Alex Klaasen’s new musical Stoornis of my Life. It is the first time in twelve years that the singer and actress has performed in a musical again.

Van der Meij will share a role with Noortje Herlaar, who is also returning to the musical world after a long period.

“I had noticed for some time that the theater was calling again,” says the 44-year-old Van der Meij, who played her last role in Shrek the Musical. “It is a world that I have missed enormously – the playing, the singing, creating something together and a live audience every night. I have always said: I am waiting for the right moment, the right role and the right production. And that is here now, with Stoornis of My Life.”

Herlaar last appeared on stage five years ago in the David Bowie musical Lazarus. “I can’t wait to be back in the theater,” she says. “The energy of the hall, the arc of suspense that you build as a group every night. It remains something magical for me. I am so looking forward to singing again.”

It was previously announced that Jim Bakkum and Soy Kroon will also share a role. Van der Meij will premiere with Bakkum on November 17. Herlaar can be seen for the first time with Kroon on December 18. Other roles are for Klaasen, Sylvia Poorta, Dennis Willekens, Julia Lammerts, Iris Bakker and Martijn Kardol.
