Michael Madsen passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 67. The American actor died of cardiac arrest, his manager confirms to NBC News.
Madsen played dozens of film roles in more than forty years. He was best known for his collaboration with director Quentin Tarantino, who cast him for, among others, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, and The Hateful Eight.
Madsen also starred in films such as Thelma & Louise, Free Willy, and Donnie Brasco. In addition, he voiced characters for video games. He can be heard in Grand Theft Auto III, the Dishonored series, and Crime Boss: Rockay City.
“Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many,” his manager says. “In the past two years, Michael Madsen has done incredible work in the independent film world, such as in the upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives.”
Madsen married three times and had six children, including actor Christian Madsen.
