Kane leads Bayern to the quarterfinals against Paris-Saint-Germain at World Cup for clubs

Bayern München has reached the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup on Sunday. The Germans, partly thanks to two goals from Harry Kane, won 4-2 against Flamengo and will now face Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern seemed to be on their way to an easy victory when they already had a 2-0 lead after ten minutes. In the sixth minute, Erick Pulgar headed the ball into his own goal, and three minutes later, Kane scored from distance via the post.

But Flamengo didn’t give up easily. After more than half an hour, Gerson brought the Brazilians back into the game with a fierce shot. Leon Goretzka made it 3-1 before half-time with a beautiful long-range shot.

Early in the second half, Flamengo came back into the game again. Jorginho, who arrived from Arsenal this summer, converted a penalty after a handball by Michael Olise. Kane ultimately decided the match fifteen minutes before the end with a low shot into the right corner.

Bayern will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. The Champions League winner eliminated Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami earlier in the evening: 4-0.

Palmeiras and Chelsea had already reached the quarter-finals earlier this weekend, after victories over Botafogo and Benfica respectively. On Monday and Tuesday, the matches Internazionale-Fluminense, Manchester City-Al Hilal, Real Madrid-Juventus and Borussia Dortmund-Monterrey are still on the schedule.
