Jumbo appoints Deen Jesper Højer as new CEO

Supermarket group Jumbo has appointed the Deen Jesper Højer as new CEO. He succeeds interim chief executive Tom Heidman on January 1, who has fulfilled the position of CEO since March.

Højer previously had various international top positions at supermarket chain Lidl, including in the Netherlands, and has been active since 2019 as an entrepreneur, investor, director and adviser. He will soon be moving to the Netherlands to get started at Jumbo, based in Veghel.

“I have always looked at this family business with great admiration. For Jumbo there are plenty of opportunities to grow further and to win even more new customers for us on the Dutch and Belgian market. I am happy that I get the confidence to continue the strategic and commercial course,” says Højer.

He becomes the third top man in a short time at the second supermarket chain in the country. At the beginning of this year, former financial director Ton van Veen was still at the helm. For years, Frits van Eerd, son of Jumbo founder Karel van Eerd, was the boss. But he became engaged in a money laundering store in 2022 and had to take a step back.
