Judge sets theater producer in case against presenter Fenna Ramos

The court has ruled in favor of the theater producer in the case against Fenna Ramos regarding alleged misconduct. The youth presenter allegedly displayed “diva behavior” during the theater tour of her children’s program Zin in Zappelin.

Theater producer BazarMedia wrote in a complaint email to AVROTROS in August last year that the 33-year-old Ramos had lashed out at her agent.

“We were there when she completely berated her agent and screamed on the phone,” the letter stated. “Not only were we shocked by it, I can report that her agent is still at home – partly due to the collaboration with Ramos.”

The letter also stated that Ramos had called in sick an hour before a theater show in Utrecht. “That was a low point. Not only did she ignore the theater’s request not to go to the foyer, she also didn’t want to put anything on Instagram, while a thousand people had to be canceled.”

Two days later, Ramos would have appeared live on television, while there were many complaints at the theater.

Ramos went to court

Ramos then filed summary proceedings because the allegations were, according to her, “incorrect and hurtful.” According to her lawyers, the letter “had the aim of damaging the client’s reputation.”

For the summary proceedings, she submitted almost 25 statements from those involved, actors, theater people and (former) employees of BazarMedia.

Although these statements mainly contain praise for the presenter, according to the judge, they do not prove that the critical reports are incorrect. Therefore, the judge ruled that the e-mail was justified.

Producer may speak of a culture of fear

“Different people can have different experiences with someone,” the judge said. In addition, a statement from a former agent of Ramos corresponds to the report about the shouting.

There are also several people who no longer want to work with the presenter. According to the judge, it is therefore justified that the email mentions a culture of fear.

The presenter had to pay the legal costs of 2,749 euros. Broadcaster AVROTROS has since decided to end the collaboration with Ramos at the end of this year.
