Jonker is looking for confirmation in the Orange waw: 'the European Championship basis does not yet know'

National coach Andries Jonker does not yet know who he will set up in Oranjes first European Championship match against Wales in more than a week. He hopes to get confirmation of his plans in the goodbye against Finland on Thursday.

“We have made a choice in outline who can play,” Jonker said at an online press conference on Wednesday. “We have also made a choice of how we will fill it in with these players. That plan looks better every day, but you want to see that confirmed at some point.”

Orange will play the goodbye against Finland on Thursday from 8 p.m. Next Saturday, Jonker’s team will play the first European Championship match, against Wales. The national coach does not rule out that he will make changes to his basic setup after the goodbye match.

“You should not assume that you see the basic team against Finland. I have not said that to my players either. They are fighting every day to convince us that they have to play. Whether these are the eleven who will start against Wales later, I really don’t know yet.”

Jonker already showed that Vivianne Miedema is fit enough to start against Finland. The top scorer of all times of Orange has recovered from a hamstring injury just in time. Lineth Beerensteyn will not make minutes in Leeuwarden. The 28-year-old striker is working on a race against the clock to get the final tournament.
