Jan de Hoop has left the hospital two days after his heart attack. The seventy-year-old presenter can still enjoy his last days of vacation in Zeeland.
De Hoop feels good. His husband Coen picked him up from the hospital in Terneuzen. “We are now going back to the campsite, wonderful,” De Hoop tells Omroep Gelderland.
The former presenter of the RTL Ontbijtnieuws suffered a heart attack at the campsite on Friday. “There was a small blockage in a side branch of a coronary artery,” he said on Saturday at Radio Gelderland. “They removed it very skillfully here, and now it’s fine again.”
Upon leaving the hospital, De Hoop took some selfies with hospital staff. After that, he will resume his vacation rhythm: he will eat a piece of cake in a cafĂ© for his husband’s birthday. On Monday, they will return the rented camper and the vacation, a six-week tour of Europe, will be definitely over.
Doctors advise De Hoop to take it easy for a month. But the presenter will not skip his weekly broadcast of De Hoop op Zaterdag on Radio Gelderland next weekend. “I’m not allowed to lug things around or anything. But radio is my hobby, that’s fine.”
De Hoop had to miss last Saturday’s broadcast due to his hospitalization. In the weeks before, he presented his program from the campsite.
