The Afsluitdijk is open again in both directions, according to the ANWB traffic service. Around 2:00 PM, the service reported that both directions were closed due to technical problems at the Stevin locks.
Traffic had to detour via Flevoland on the A6. On one side of the Afsluitdijk, near Den Oever, there were 2 kilometers of stationary traffic in both directions.
There is a technical malfunction at the Stevin locks. A technician from Rijkswaterstaat is currently present to examine the malfunction. An investigation is underway into the cause of the malfunction.
The bridge on the North Holland side of the Afsluitdijk is still open due to the malfunction, but Rijkswaterstaat is guiding road users over another lane to ensure that they can drive in both directions again.
