The Ibiza Rocks Hotel is cancelling all its scheduled events for the coming weeks after two young British men fell from a balcony and died in three weeks. The hotel says it is shocked by this.
The programming is interrupted because of “the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved,” the hotel said via Instagram. Performances by rapper Dizzee Rascal and the band Rudimental, among others, will not take place. It is not clear how long the hotel will interrupt the programming.
On Monday, nineteen-year-old Gary Kelly fell fatally from a balcony in the hotel. Earlier this month, his 26-year-old compatriot Evan Thomson had died in the same way. The incidents appear to be accidents. In April, a woman from Italy also died from a fall from a balcony in the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.
The hotel is known for the many events where guests party from balconies around the pool.
“The safety and well-being of our guests is and remains our highest priority,” the hotel reports on Instagram. Ibiza Rocks also says it will “support those affected and their families” and “fully cooperate with the authorities’ investigation.”
