
Pauline Hondema Has Reached a World Championship Final in the Long Jump for the first time in Tokyo on Saturday. The North Holland Native, Who Missed the Final in Budapest Two Years ago by 1 centimeter, Convincingly Made It Through the Qualification in the Japanese Capital.
Hondema Jumped to 6.66 meters, placing her among the top twelve who will compete for medals on Sunday at 13:40 (Dutch time). She finished sevth in the Qualifications.
The Final Placement Brought Huge Joy and Relief to Hondema, Who this year Tok the Dutch Record from Former Top Sprinter and Heptathlete Dafne Schippers. Schippers Jumped 6.78 meters in 2014, and Hondema Reached 6.91 meters in Kortrijk.
“Tomorrow in the Final I Want To Improve My Dutch Record,” Hondema Said After Her Successful Qualification. “And I hope to finish in the top eight.”
A year ago, Hondema Already Participated in The Olympic Games in Paris. Just Like in Budapest, The Qualification was the final Stop there. With a distance of 6.88 meters, The American Olympic Champion Tara Davis-Woodhall was the best in the Qualifications in Tokyo.
