Helmond Sport gives Jurgen Seegers (49) his first chance as head coach

Helmond Sport has appointed Jurgen Seegers as their new coach on Monday. The 49-year-old Dutchman is taking his first steps as head coach in professional football at the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club.

Seegers has previously coached youth teams at Telstar, ADO Den Haag, and PEC Zwolle, among others. He has also been a performance coach at ADO, Anderlecht, and Vitesse, as well as head of youth development at Fortuna Sittard and Almere City.

“The club has a clear ambition and vision for the future,” Seegers says on the Helmond Sport website. “This will be my first job as head coach, which motivates me even more to get started with enthusiasm.”

Seegers succeeds interim coach Robert Maaskant, who replaced the dismissed Kevin Hofland in February. Helmond Sport won only two of the fourteen matches under Maaskant’s leadership. The club finished thirteenth last season.

“With Jurgen, we are not only bringing in a professional, but also someone who perfectly fits the ambition and culture of our club,” says football and organization manager Rick de Rooij. “We have great confidence in his vision and approach.”
