England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are not automatically qualified for the 2028 European Football Championship. The host countries must qualify for the final tournament through the qualifiers.

Usually, the organizing country automatically receives a starting ticket, as was the case with Germany last year. However, because the tournament in 2028 will be played in four countries, the European football association UEFA has opted for a different structure.

The four organizers, like the other European countries, will be placed in one of the twelve groups of four or five countries. They must try to qualify on their own as group winners or one of the best runners-up.

UEFA has reserved two European Championship tickets for the two best host countries that do not qualify via the qualifying series. The remaining tickets will be distributed via the play-offs. How many tickets will be distributed in these play-offs depends on the number of host countries that use the ‘extra’ tickets.

The 2028 European Championship will be held in June and July. The Netherlands will begin the qualifying series for the FIFA World Cup early next month, which will take place next year in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
