Ground staff KLM will not stop during the summer holidays

The KLM ground staff will not strike until after the summer holidays, according to the FNV trade union. “The judge believes that striking during the summer holidays is not allowed,” says FNV director John van Dorland. “We disagree with that, but we accept it for now.”

The collective labor agreement negotiations between FNV and KLM regarding the wages of the ground staff are still deadlocked. The strikes, which were previously banned by the judge, have only fueled the dissatisfaction among the staff, according to the trade union.

Nevertheless, FNV has decided to suspend the actions until after the summer holidays. The union says it is doing this partly out of respect for the traveler. They would be the victim, because a strike by desk and maintenance staff would lead to a lot of delays and canceled flights.

The ground staff of the airline is dissatisfied with the salary. KLM made a wage offer in early July in the hope of preventing the announced strike in this way.

The airline offered all unions a one-off payment of 1,000 euros per employee this year. KLM also proposed a structural wage increase of 2.5 percent from July 2026. Despite this offer, CNV and FNV were not prepared to continue the conversation.

According to FNV, the willingness to take action among the staff is still high and actions after the summer holidays are almost certain.
