Griekspoor refueling trust for Wimbledon with half -final place on Mallorca

Tallon Griekspoor scored another convincing victory on Thursday at the Mallorca grass tournament. The leading player of Dutch tennis won in the quarter-finals in two sets against the Canadian Gabriel Diallo: 6-4 and 6-4.

Griekspoor’s victory is impressive, as Diallo started the match as the man in form. He was the best at the tournament in Rosmalen a week and a half ago. Griekspoor was absent there due to the abdominal muscle injury that forced him to retire at Roland Garros.

Griekspoor seems to have no more problems with the injury. He played against Diallo at a very decent level at times and decided the match after 1 hour and 29 minutes on his second match point.

Griekspoor may face another confrontation with a Canadian in the next round. Félix Auger-Aliassime is the big favorite in his quarter-final against Hamad Medjedovic. The match between the Canadian and the Serbian is still in progress.

At the tournament in Mallorca, Griekspoor is being assisted by trainer Kristof Vliegen again after a long time. The two have worked together in the past, but separated for the second time in October last year. Griekspoor had no coach after breaking up with Dennis Sporrel last month.

The start of the renewed collaboration is promising for Griekspoor. He plays the semi-final on Friday. The final is scheduled for the next day. Next week, Griekspoor will start his third Grand Slam tournament of the year at Wimbledon.
