Scientists Make First Embryos with Human Skin Cells

Scientists have grown embryos with human skin cells for the first time. This May Allow Parents Who Cannot Have Children To Have Children In The Future.

The core of the skin cell, which contains the dna, is placed in a donor egg. The Donor Egg has no genetic characteristics, but it does have all the chromosomes. Chromosomes are a piece of DNA that determines what you look like and how your body works.

The trick is to manipulate the donor egg to repel part of the chromosomes. Then the Egg is fertilized with sperm. The Combination of Skin Cells and Sperms that Both Parents’ Chromosomes Are in the Donor Egg.

Nine percent of the 82 fertilized donor eggs grew into an embryo. None of Those Embryos Lied Longer Than Six Days. This is partly because there were too many chromosomes in the egg cells.

Further Research Needs to Be Done Into the Technique. Some Scientists Say It is Already A Big Step Forward. Others Still Doubt Whether this is a good development on an ethical level. The Embryos had many genetic abnormalities. The Child Could then Anyge Become Ill. In Addition, Parents Could theoretically use this type of method to determine What Characteristics Their Child Has, Such as An Extra Smart Child. Accordance to scientists, The Question is Whether that is a good idea.
