Golfer Niklas Lemke hit a rare albatross on Friday at the KLM Dutch Open in Badhoevedorp. The German needed only two strokes to complete hole 3, while it actually takes five strokes.
The 41-year-old Lemke needed only two strokes on hole 3 to cover the distance of 485 meters, giving him three under par. Three under par on a hole is also called an albatross.
On the DP World Tour, the highest European golf level, an albatross has only been hit three times this season. In 2025, eleven holes-in-one have already been hit. That makes an albatross more unique than a hole-in-one.
At the KLM Open, an albatross has only been scored three times this century: Dane Søren Hansen (2005), Thai Thongchai Jaidee (2008) and Englishman Richard Bland (2012) preceded Lemke.
Despite the albatross, Lemke was eliminated at the KLM Open because he did not make the cut. Swede Joakim Lagergren is leading at The International golf course near Amsterdam. The highest-ranked Dutchman is Lars van Meijel, in a shared 22nd place.
