The Giro d’Italia will start in Bulgaria next year. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, during a press conference with his colleague from Sport, Ivan Peshev.
“The Giro d’Italia puts our country on the world map of tourism and makes Bulgaria a recognizable destination,” the Bulgarian news agency BTA Borshosh quoted.
The minister believes that the arrival of the appealing cycling race will improve the image of his country. The Giro will visit dozens of municipalities in three days. When that will happen and what the course will look like those days will be announced later.
In the past ten years, the Giro started outside Italy four times. In 2016, the Netherlands organized the start, and Israel (2018), Hungary (2022) and Albania (2025) also hosted the cycling race.
The Giro d’Italia, which lasts three weeks, is held in May. The race was won earlier this year by Simon Yates.
