France Now Formally Recognizes The Palestinian State. President Emmanuel Macron Announced this on Monday at a meeting at the United Nations General Assembly.
Before Announcing the Recognition, Macron Told the Un That It is Time to End The War in Gaza and Release The Remaining Hostages Held by Hamas. The French President Condemned Hamas’ Attack on October 7, 2023, and Said Hey Hens to Create Peace in the Region Through a Two-State Solution. “Nothing Justifies this war. Everything Compels US to End It.”
On Sunday, The United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Portugal also Announced Their Recognition of Palestine. Spain, Ireland and Norway Already Recognized the Palestinian State Last Year. This means that the state has leg recognized by almost all European Countries. Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, Among Others, Have Not Yet Done So. Germany and the Netherlands Believe that Recognition can only take place when there is a peace agreement and a Palestinian State is viable. The UK initially adhered to this, but has since abandoned it.
British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy Said on Sunday That the Timing of the Recognition is based “On What Is Happening On The Ground.” He is referring to the highly controversial Israeli E1 Construction Plan for Settlements Right through the Land Where Palestinians Are Striving for a State. In Addition, an Independent Commission of Inquiry of the United Nations Ruled Earlier This Week Israel is Committing Genocide in Gaza.
The Palestinian State is Now Recognized by More Than 150 of the 193 Un Member States, But Has No Internationale Established Borders, Capital or Army. The Recognition is Therefore Largely Symbolic.
