The former speed skaters Ireen Wüst and Letitia de Jong have had a daughter. The couple announced this on Instagram on Thursday.
“Pip was born on June 17,” they write with a photo of the newborn baby. “We are over the moon!”
It is unclear whether Wüst or De Jong was pregnant, or whether the baby came via a surrogate mother.
Wüst is considered the most successful Dutch Olympian of all time. The Brabant native won gold six times, silver five times, and bronze twice. She ended her career in March 2022.
De Jong never participated in the Olympics. She did win two World Championship gold medals in the team sprint.
