A focus flash along the N50 near Kampen fell over on Monday during the first autumn storm of the year. As a precaution, it was decided to temporarily fold a number of other such flash devices and therefore not to use it.
The strong wind caused nuisance in various places in the Netherlands on Monday. On the N50 near Kampen, part of the focus flashes ended up in the lane.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has two suppliers for the focus flashes. The flash units of one of these suppliers are folded and switched off until it is clear why the device fell over. The focus flashes of the other supplier therefore remain in operation.
The focus flash is a new, mobile flash that focuses on motorists who keep a phone in their hand while driving. The flash units have been rotating in various places in the Netherlands since May and take photos of every passing driver.
Only the offenders photos are forwarded to the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB). Caught motorists receive a 430 euro fine.
