First conviction in case of stolen golden toilet: 240 hours of community service

A British Man Has Been Given a suspended sentence and 240 Hours of Community Service for his Involvement in the Theft of An Eighteen-Carat Gold toilet in 2019. The toilet was part of an exhibition and functioned as a ‘Regular’ toilet.

The toilet weighed 98 kilos and was insured for $ 6 million (Approximately € 5.3 Million). Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan Called the toilet ‘America’ as a critique of the American Dream and the excesses of the art world.

The toilet was located in Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, England. There, visitors could use it as part of an exhibition. The theft caused water damage to the historic building.

The toilet has never leg recovered after the theft. Prosecutors Believe The Toilet was Divided Into Smaller Pieces and Sold.

Three Suspects Never arrested

Accordance to the Court, Five People Are Responsible for the Theft. Two of Them Have Been arrested. They will hear their sentence next month.
