Various festivals and artists have expressed their support for the Belgian festival Tomorrowland on social media. The dance event was hit by a major fire, which completely destroyed the main stage. The festival will still go ahead.
“We stand behind our Tomorrowland family,” writes Pukkelpop. “Send them all the love and support,” followed by the emoji of two hands forming a heart. Rock Werchter also calls on its followers on Instagram to send “all love and support” to Tomorrowland.
The Belgian Charlotte de Witte, who was scheduled to close the mainstage on Saturday, writes that she is “speechless”. “My heart and thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.” The Brazilian Alok, who is also on the festival’s schedule, responds hopefully. “We all know how well Tomorrowland manages to rise above everything. Tomorrowland is more than just the main stage!”
Afrojack says he is happy that everyone is safe. His Dutch colleagues such as Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Don Diablo and Sunnery James place hearts under a message from Tomorrowland on Instagram.
The Swedish DJ trio Swedish House Mafia calls the fire “terrible news”. “Our thoughts go out to the entire Tomorrowland family and everyone who is going to the festival this year.”
Martin Garrix, who was scheduled to be on the main stage of Tomorrowland on Friday evening, has not responded. It is not clear whether the DJ’s performance will take place elsewhere or will be canceled altogether.
