Femke Bol wins 400 hurdles on FBK Games with force majeure and stadium record

Femke Bol won the 400 meter hurdles at the FBK Games in Hengelo on Monday. The Dutch top athlete was supreme and won in a stadium record of 52.51 seconds.

Bol already triumphed last month in her return to the 400 meter hurdles at the Diamond League competition in Rabat. The Dutch athlete clocked a time of 52.46 in Morocco and won the race with ease.

Under the watchful eye of outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Bol was 0.05 seconds slower on Monday. Nevertheless, she proved to be in a class of her own and set a stadium record. That was already in Bol’s name, who reached a time of 53.94 in 2022. Gianna Woodruff (54.54) from Panama and Emma Zapletalová (54.71) from Slovakia finished second and third.

“It went well, but not great,” Bol said afterwards at the NOS. “I had to keep my head a little more this time. Normally it’s: I race and don’t think. But it’s only my second race.”

Bol Remains Undefeated in 25 Diamond League Races in the 400 Hurdles

Bol started the competition in Hengelo as a huge favorite. The Dutch athlete has won the last 25 races in the 400 meter hurdles in the Diamond League. She has been undefeated in that competition since 2020.

The 25-year-old Bol hoped to become Olympic champion in the 400 meter hurdles in Paris last year, but had to acknowledge Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone as her superior. The American was not present in Hengelo, where most of the world’s top athletes were missing.

Bol also won gold in the 400 meter hurdles at the FBK Games in 2021 and 2022. She also won gold twice in the 400 meters in Hengelo. Last year she was the strongest in a track record (50.02).

Nadine Visser won gold in the 100 meter hurdles.

Jonas Phijffers took gold in a personal record in the 400 meters.
