Femke Bol won the 400-meter hurdles at the Diamond League competition in Stockholm on Sunday. The Amersfoort native sprinted to a time of 52.11 seconds in Sweden. In the pole vault, Armand Duplantis improved his own world record.
The 25-year-old Bol dipped sixteen hundredths below her own stadium record from 2022. She stayed ahead of American Dalilah Muhammad (52.91) and Panamanian Gianna Woodruff (53.99).
Bol was just slightly slower than the best time of the season. That is held by Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who clocked 52.07 in Miramar, USA, at the beginning of May.
Last Monday, Bol already won in a stadium record (52.51) at the FBK Games. She ran in Hengelo with a cross on her left ankle. That had to do with a new technique, in which she jumps over the first hurdle with a different leg.
A month earlier, Bol started her season at the Diamond League competition in Rabat. In the Moroccan capital, the reigning world champion was also dominant with 52.45.
Bol has won the last 26 Diamond League races in the 400-meter hurdles. The Dutch athlete has been undefeated in that competition since 2020. She hoped to become Olympic champion in the 400-meter hurdles last year, but had to acknowledge McLaughlin-Levrone as her superior.
Pole vaulter Duplantis breaks own world record
In the pole vault, Duplantis improved his own world record. With 6.28 meters, the Swede jumped one centimeter higher than his old record in front of his home crowd. Menno Vloon finished third with a height of 5.80 meters.
Nadine Visser sprinted to third place in the 100-meter hurdles. The thirty-year-old from Hoorn came to a time of 12.49, thirteen hundredths above her personal record. She had to give way to American Grace Stark (12.33) and Jamaican Ackera Nugent (12.37).
Lieke Klaver finished fourth in the 400 meters in 50.35. American Isabella Whittaker took the victory in 49.78. In the discus throw, Jorinde van Klinken finished second with a distance of 64.33 meters behind the German Kristin Pudenz (64.85).
