FC Den Bosch and Telstar drew 0-0 on Tuesday in the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off semi-finals. Both clubs remain in sight of a surprising place in the Eredivisie.
Den Bosch and Telstar both surprisingly qualified for the semi-finals of the play-offs last week. Den Bosch beat Cambuur (2-1 over two legs), while ‘De Witte Leeuwen’ were too strong for ADO Den Haag (3-0 over two legs).
In their mutual duel, Den Bosch and Telstar disappointed on Tuesday evening. Both teams seemed to suffer from nerves and only came close to scoring a few times.
Before half-time, Telstar striker Youssef El Kachati had a number of shooting opportunities, but he failed. After the break, Den Bosch attacker Byron Burgering missed the biggest opportunity to score the opening goal. So no goals were scored in De Vliert.
Due to the draw, everything is still open for the return on Friday. The kick-off in Velsen-Zuid is at 8 p.m. The winner qualifies for the final of the play-offs, in which FC Dordrecht or Willem II is the opponent. The two teams will play against each other for the first time on Wednesday.
A return to the Eredivisie would be sensational for both Den Bosch and Telstar. Den Bosch last played at the highest level in 2005. Telstar last played in the Eredivisie in the 1977/1978 season.
