Extensation case is closed book for Brobbey: 'What is private is supposed to stay private'

Brian Brobbey is not happy that the extortion case surrounding him has come out, he tells De Telegraaf on Friday. Het Parool reported earlier in the day that the Ajax striker has been extorted for a longer period.

“What is private should remain private,” says the 23-year-old Brobbey in a short response to De Telegraaf. “This story is a closed book for me. Looking back leads to nothing. I am concentrating on the future.”

Het Parool wrote that Brobbey had been extorted for months since the end of 2022 by Jeymon A. During a meeting at a party in Amsterdam, A. claimed that the striker was wanted by criminals in Utrecht. A. said he had solved this for him and wanted to be paid for it.

Brobbey later told a friend that he had no idea what the conversation was about. The friend promised to solve it for him. In the months that followed, several attacks were carried out on the homes and cars of Brobbey’s relatives, but also on his own car.

During a meeting, Brobbey’s friend was shot three times by A., which he miraculously survived. More than a week after the shooting, Brobbey received a message from A. stating that he had to pay 150,000 euros by the end of the month. Brobbey never did this.

In November 2024, A. was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted manslaughter, possession of a firearm and a quantity of drugs. A. has appealed against this. He was not prosecuted for extortion because Brobbey did not want to file a report.
