Daphne Govers, the ex-wife of Michael van Gerwen, is pregnant with her new partner Robert. The couple announced this to Shownieuws. Govers and Van Gerwen ended their relationship at the end of May.
Govers confirms rumors from various juice channels on social media about her pregnancy. On Instagram, it can be seen that she is expecting a girl. The pregnancy was not planned, says Govers.
“Not everything that has come online is correct,” Govers tells Shownieuws. She is referring to rumors that her new boyfriend Robert still had a girlfriend when they started seeing each other. “He had already broken up with his ex,” she says.
Robert tells Shownieuws that he and Govers have known each other for a long time and “have always had a connection”. “Then the spark ignited. That was not the intention, but it happened,” he says. “We didn’t want to hurt anyone, not Michael, not anyone. But it happened.”
According to the couple, the contact with Van Gerwen is good and they treat each other “as friends”.
Govers and Van Gerwen were married for over ten years. They had been together since the beginning of Van Gerwen’s darts career, who became world champion three times. They have two children together. Due to the breakup, the 36-year-old darts player withdrew from several tournaments at the end of May. He returned at the end of June.
