The police in Zevenaar, Gelderland, had a busy Saturday catching an escaped kangaroo. No fewer than three units tried to catch the animal, the police wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
The animal had “hopped” from a residence in Giesbeek to Angerlo, just over 5 kilometers away. The police made several unsuccessful attempts to catch the small kangaroo in a garden there.
Eventually, the wallaby, as small kangaroos are actually called, got stuck near an exit. In a small pit at the bottom of the viaduct towards Doesburg, the animal could finally be enclosed after three hours.
The wallaby was sedated by a veterinarian and then transferred to his own residence “to recover from his adventurous outing.”
“Unfortunately, the wallaby was not available for comment afterwards,” the police wrote. “Out of respect for the wallaby,” the police have made him unrecognizable in the picture.
