Economy eurozone grew stronger in the first quarter

The eurozone economy grew by 0.6 percent in the first quarter of this year. This is higher than previously reported, according to a new estimate from the European statistics agency Eurostat.

Previously, a growth of 0.3 percent on a quarterly basis was reported. On an annual basis, the growth figure for the euro area was 1.5 percent, compared to an earlier estimate of 1.2 percent. In the last quarter of 2024, economic growth was 0.3 percent on a quarterly basis and 1.2 percent on an annual basis.

For the entire European Union, the first three months of the year saw growth of 0.6 percent compared to the previous period and 1.6 percent compared to a year earlier.

The Dutch economy grew by 0.1 percent on a quarterly basis and 2 percent on an annual basis in the past quarter.

Germany, the largest economy in Europe, recorded an increase of 0.4 percent. France, the second largest economy in the euro area, grew by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter.
