Dutch film Ihostage viewed 58 million times according to Netflix

The Dutch film iHostage has been viewed 58 million times since its launch on April 18. Netflix announced this on Thursday following the semi-annual Engagement Report. This report details Netflix’s viewership figures for the past six months.

In the first two weeks after its premiere, iHostage, starring Soufiane Moussouli and Loes Haverkort, was in the top ten most-watched films in 93 countries, according to Netflix.

The film by director Bobby Boermans is about the hostage situation that took place in 2022 in the Apple Store on Leidseplein in Amsterdam.

“I never would have dared to dream that 58 million people worldwide would watch this film,” Boermans responds. “It proves that a thrilling local story can transcend borders. The success of the film opens doors and gives me and the entire team a huge boost to bring Dutch-language productions even further around the world.”
