Drone flies airspace through Romanian during attack on Ukraine

A drone violated the Romanian airspace on Saturday during a Russian attack on Ukraine. Two F-16s followed the drone. Poland also sent airplanes into the air. Earlier this week the Polish airspace was violated by suspected Russian drones.

The violation of the airspace took place in southeastern Romania, near the border with Ukraine. “The drone did not fly over inhabited areas and was not a direct danger to the population,” reports the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

Two F-16 beam hunters were activated and citizens in the wide region were advised to look for coverage. The fighter jets followed the drone to the border with Ukraine, where those disappeared from the radar.

Romania has had to deal with Russian drones above his territory in recent years. The country also found remnants of crashed drones several times. Romania and Ukraine share a limit of approximately 650 kilometers.

Also in Poland, combat aircraft came into action on Saturday. The reason was drone attacks just across the border with Ukraine. In the end there were no reports of drones in the Polish airspace.
