Despite Goal Koopmeiners, Manchester City takes on Juventus at World Cup Clubs

Manchester City won their third group match at the Club World Cup on Thursday. Josep Guardiola’s team won 5-2 against Juventus in Orlando, despite a goal from Teun Koopmeiners.

Jérémy Doku opened the scoring for City in the ninth minute after a nice pass from Rayan Aït-Nouri. Two minutes later, Koopmeiners equalized after the ball was played into his feet by City goalkeeper Ederson.

After just under half an hour, City took the lead through an own goal by Pierre Kalulu, who shot a cross from the right into his own goal. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden scored after the break and Savinho made it 5-1 with a hard shot from distance. Dusan Vlahovic scored a late consolation goal for Juventus.

Koopmeiners played just under an hour for Juventus. Tijjani Reijnders played the full ninety minutes for Manchester City, and Nathan Aké remained on the bench.

Manchester City and Juventus had both won their first two matches at the Club World Cup. They had already secured a place in the round of sixteen.

In the other match in this group, Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates won 2-1 against Wydad AC from Morocco. Both clubs were already eliminated.
