Cycling team Israel Prime Minister Tech continues under a new name without a link with Israel. The World Tour formation took that decision after the massive protests of the past period.
“We have decided to give the team a new name and a new image, with which we distance themselves from the current Israeli identity,” the team writes in a statement on Monday. “In sport, progress often requires sacrifices and this step is essential to secure the future of the team.”
Israel Prime Minister Tech has been the target of Pro-Palestinian protests in recent months in the Vuelta a España. For example, the team riders were hindered by demonstrators during the team time trial.
