Cristiano Ronaldo (40) continues and extends a contract in Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his expiring contract with Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The forty-year-old Portuguese will continue for at least two more seasons.

Ronaldo seemed to hint at a departure from Al Nassr at the end of last month, according to many. “This chapter is over,” he wrote on Instagram at the time with a photo of him in the shirt of the Saudi club.

Now he seems to respond to that message. “A new chapter begins. The same passion, the same dream. Let’s make history together,” he shares. He poses next to club chairman Abdullah Al-Majid with an Al Nassr shirt.

Ronaldo has been playing for Al Nassr since the beginning of 2023, who picked him up at Manchester United. There were issues between the star and then-coach Erik ten Hag.

So far, Ronaldo has only won the Arab Club Champions Cup in Saudi Arabia. Despite 25 goals from Ronaldo, Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi league last season. Al Nassr thereby missed out on participation in the Asian Champions League, but Ronaldo still wants to stay.

Ronaldo hopes to participate in the World Cup with Portugal next year. Last international period, he scored against both Germany and Spain in the Nations League final round. The substituted Ronaldo saw his teammates win the final victory after penalties.
