Confused man after more than seven -hour police action arrested in Limburg

The police arrested a ‘confused’ man in Wijlre, Limburg, on Wednesday evening after hours of negotiations. Emergency services, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service Defense (EOD), gathered en masse in front of the house where the man was.

The police received the first report of the incident around 4:30 PM. Since then, officers have reportedly been negotiating with the man. Shortly before midnight, the police reported on X that there was no more danger to the environment and that the man had been arrested.

The man was in a house on Brouwerijstraat, writes the local newspaper L1. The police said they could not enter the house because the safety of the man and the emergency services could be jeopardized. According to the police, contact with the “confused man” was very “difficult”.

Various emergency services responded en masse to the incident. The EOD, negotiators and officers in bulletproof vests were present. The fire brigade and members of the Special Intervention Service also arrived on site.

The police have not yet shared any details about what exactly happened in the house.
