The Commissariaat for the Media (CvdM) has imposed an administrative fine. That confirms a spokesperson for the CVDM to ANP , after the broadcaster had already announced the fine itself in videos on X.
On! Faces Peter Vlemmix, Raisa Blommenstijn and Tom de Nooijer reported in the videos on Monday that a fine had been imposed. According to the figureheads, the fine has to do with Tom De Nooijer, who works as a presenter for the broadcaster.
The CVDM says that the fine was imposed because of several violations. The reasons for this are included in a sanction decision that still needs to be published. It is therefore not yet clear what the precise reason for the fine is.
The Commissariaat contradicts that there is a “war” or “struggle” against ON! Or the presenters of the broadcaster. The media watchdog says that there is room within the public system for the sound that on! represents. “But the same rules apply to ON! As for all other broadcasters.”
“The investigation about which on! Report has shown that ON! Did not take sufficient measures to prevent a conflict of interest, among other things.” The CvDM says it does not make any further substantive announcements until the sanction decision is published. The Commissariaat now confirms the fine because ON! has taken the news in public.
The broadcaster can still object to the fine.
