A 28-year-old Chinese student from London was sentenced on Thursday to a prison term of at least 24 years for drugging and raping ten women. He made videos and collected belongings of the victims. There may be dozens more victims.
The student was sentenced in court in London, shown in the image above this article, to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years. That means he can be considered for early release after 24 years.
Between 2019 and 2023, the Chinese man raped three women in London and seven women in China. He invited the women to his apartment in southeast London for study or drinks. He then drugged the women.
He made recordings of the sexual abuse with hidden cameras or his phone. In total, British detectives found more than thirteen hundred videos. Some of those images were shown in court. He also collected belongings of the victims.
Three of the victims have been identified. One woman was reportedly raped after the student forced her to drink too much alcohol, the BBC writes. When she wanted to leave the apartment, she was stopped. Another woman, who now lives in China, was unconscious when she was raped.
London police already suspected prior to the trial that the man raped dozens of other women in a similar way. Since the beginning of the trial, 24 other victims have come forward.
Therefore, the police emphasize that they are not closing the investigation into the student. They also call on victims to report.
