Chelsea wins World Cup for clubs thanks to flashy first half against PSG

Chelsea won the Club World Cup on Sunday. The Premier League club was too strong for Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain in the final at MetLife Stadium in New York, thanks to a dazzling first half, winning 3-0.

Star player for Chelsea was Cole Palmer. The 23-year-old midfielder scored the 1-0 and the 2-0 and also provided the assist for the 3-0 by João Pedro. Due to Chelsea’s large lead, the final was as good as decided halfway through. The second half was no longer exciting.

The world title is a great end to a long season for Chelsea. In May, the London club already won the Conference League and now it can call itself the winner of the first major Club World Cup, which will now be held every four years.

For PSG, the tally this season remains at four prizes: the French Supercup, the French Cup, the national title and the Champions League.

The Parisian club, which won comfortably against Real Madrid in the semi-final (4-0), was the favorite for the final, but did not live up to that. After the match, the frustration was visible at PSG. There was a scuffle, with a negative role for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who dealt a blow to João Pedro.
