Chappell Roan: 'New album will take at least five years'

Fans of Chappell Roan shouldn’t expect a second album anytime soon. In an interview with Vogue, the American singer reveals that it could be years before a new record is released.

“There is no second project yet,” says the 27-year-old Roan, despite the release of some new songs. “There is no album. And there is no collection of songs.”

According to the Pink Pony Club singer, it took her five years to make her debut album, and that will probably be no different with the next project. “I’m not a songwriter who just throws it out there. Even if I were in the studio twelve hours a day, it wouldn’t go any faster.”

She also emphasizes that making music under pressure doesn’t work for her. “I don’t think I make good music when I force myself to do something.”

Roan broke through last year with the hit Good Luck, Babe!. Since then, her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023) has also been in the spotlight.
