The Chance of Someone Getting Long Covid from an Infection Contracted After the Corona Pandemic is Very Small, Accordination to Research by the Rivm (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). Researchers See Hardly Any Difference in Health Complaints Between Infected and Non-Infected People After An Infection.
The RIVM Conducted Research on a Group of Five Thousand People who Contracted Corona in the Fall of 2023. That Group was compared with a group of people who had not contracted corona in the same period. The Participants Reported Every Three Months Whether They had complaints.
The Researchers Saw No Significant Difference in Complaints Between the Two Groups, RIVM Researcher Kees van den Wijngaard Tells Nu.nl. This shows that the chance of long covid with infections in 2023 was very small. The Expectation is that this wille remain the case for the years after.
But the research does not exclude that people can still get Long Covid, Van den Wijngaard Emphasizes. “We only show that the chance of that is now narrower than people think. And that may make a differentence for some who has been corona.”
The Research Focuses On Infections After the Corona Pandemic. With Infections Duration the Pandemic Between 2020 and 2022, The Chance of Long Covid was a prospective Greater. 12 Percent of Dutch People with an Infection Duration the Pandemic Experienced Long Covid Complaints, Accordance to Earlier Research From the UMC Groningen.
