Burglar regrets during a home robbery and gives wife (82) part out of loot

A burglar has apologized in the night from Saturday to Sunday during a violent home robbery in Sint-Annaland in Zeeland. The man gave part of the loot back to the 82-year-old victim, the police report.

Around 1.30 am the victim woke up with light that her bedroom seemed in. Moments later the window was smashed from her balcony door with a stone. The burglar grabbed the woman and stole the bracelet and necklace she had.

The woman then said that the wedding ring of her deceased man hangs on the necklace. The burglar seemed to do that, because he gave the chain back. According to the police, he said, “Sorry, I have problems.”

The burglar ran away with the other jewelry. The police started a search for the perpetrator, but it turned out to be without a trace.
