Feyenoord has made another move in the transfer market on Thursday. The club is acquiring Danish striker Casper Tengstedt from Benfica.
Feyenoord is reportedly paying 6 million euros for the 25-year-old Tengstedt, who played on loan for Hellas Verona last season. The striker has signed a contract at De Kuip until the summer of 2029.
Tengstedt is already the seventh reinforcement for Feyenoord this summer. Previously, the club acquired Sem Steijn (FC Twente), Luciano Valente (FC Groningen), Gaoussou Diarra (Istanbulspor), Liam Bossin (FC Dordrecht), Gonçalo Borges (FC Porto), and Tsuyoshi Watanabe (KAA Gent).
Attacker Borges and defender Watanabe were signed in recent days. Reportedly, Feyenoord is also close to acquiring Australian left-back Jordan Bos from KVC Westerlo. He is said to have already arrived in Rotterdam for the medical examination.
Feyenoord had been looking for a competitor for Ayase Ueda for some time. The Japanese player was acquired from Cercle Brugge two years ago for at least 8 million euros, but he has so far failed to make a lasting impression in Rotterdam.
Now, Van Persie can have two strikers at his disposal for the important matches in the Champions League. Feyenoord must pass two preliminary rounds to reach the main tournament of the billion-dollar competition. Fenerbahçe is the first opponent. The matches with the Turkish club are on August 5 and 12.
