Bosz is not thinking of replacement for Van Bommel at PSV: 'Have good selection'

PSV trainer Peter Bosz does not necessarily think it is necessary to get a replacement for Ruben van Bommel transfer free. The attacker is not expected to be in action this season due to a serious knee injury.

After Van Bommel’s disappearance, PSV was associated with various transfer -free players. They can be met outside the normal transfer period. One of the options mentioned was Hakim Ziyech, with whom Bosz previously worked at Ajax.

Yet the trainer seems to be planning to do it with his current selection. “I think we have good players and a good selection,” said Bosz Friday, a day before the game with Excelsior.

Van Bommel was injured in the match against Ajax (2-2) last weekend. Alassane Pléa and Myron Boadu also recover from injuries. “After Pléa we already put on Boadu,” said Bosz. “And we are spacious in the offside players.”

Bosz has access to Ivan Perisic, Dennis Man, Esmir Bajrakktarevic and Couhaib Driouech on the flanks. When asked about Delé Thomas, who is doing well at Jong PSV, Bosz indicated that it is too early to get him from the first team.

Bosz sympathizes with Van Bommel: ‘terrible for him’

Bosz mainly demonstrated his condolences to Van Bommel at the press conference, who came over from AZ last summer. “It is a young boy who came to PSV very ambitiously and started well. This is terrible for him,” said Bosz.

“Then you see such a boy coming in on crutches and you know what awaits him,” the trainer continued. “He is heading for a period of hard work and loneliness. We live with him enormously.”

Bosz still tried to give Van Bommel hold. “It used to be a regular end of career, but luckily that is no longer the case,” he said. “Many players recover well from such an injury these days.”

Without Van Bommel, Pléa, Boadu and Kiliann Sildillia, PSV kicks off on Saturday at 8 p.m. against Excelsior. The competition takes place in the Woudestein stadium.
