Blokker has made a restart and will continue with fewer than fifty stores. The company ultimately managed to retain only twelve of the independent entrepreneurs. The other stores will continue under a different name.
A spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday, following reports from RTL Z, that twelve independent entrepreneurs are participating in the restart of Blokker. That is slightly more than a quarter of the original number of franchisees. Tuesday was the last day on which they could indicate whether they wanted to keep the Blokker name.
The new Blokker, owned by entrepreneur Roland Palmer, has 36 of its own locations. After the bankruptcy at the end of last year, 45 locations of franchisees remained open. Blokker said last week that it was no surprise that some independent branch managers are not joining the restarted retail company.
The entrepreneurs who are leaving Blokker must immediately remove the name from the facade and continue under their own name. Some stores have in the meantime joined another chain, such as Marskramer.
