AZ will play against Ilves Tampere in the second qualifying round of the Conference League. The Finnish club was eliminated on Thursday in the first qualifying round of the Europa League by the Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk.
Ilves Tampere played to a goalless draw at home against Shakhtar. That was not enough after the heavy 6-0 defeat in the first leg. The Finns thus advance to the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
Ilves Tampere is currently second in the highest Finnish league. The club reached the third qualifying round of the Conference League last season. In that round, Swedish Djurgardens IF was too strong over two matches with 4-2.
The first match between Ilves Tampere and AZ is on Thursday, July 24 in Finland. The return will be played a week later at the AFAS Stadion. The third qualifying round (August 7 and 14) and the fourth qualifying round (August 21 and 28) will follow later.
FC Utrecht will find out on Thursday evening which club it will meet in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. The club will face the winner of the two-legged match between Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova or FC Prishtina from Kosovo. Sheriff Tiraspol won the first leg last week with 4-0.
