Attacks of Israel and Iran keep going, important Iranian leader killed

The attacks between Israel and Iran continued on Sunday. Iran fired a new wave of rockets at, among other places, Haifa, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem, resulting in several injuries. Israel carried out multiple rocket attacks on Iranian targets, killing a high-ranking leader.

The Israeli coastal city of Haifa was hit by an Iranian air strike on Sunday afternoon, damaging buildings. Several people were reportedly injured, including a 72-year-old woman, according to Times of Israel. Rockets also landed in Jerusalem, reported a BBC correspondent on the scene.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, 224 people have been killed since the Israeli attacks on Friday, including many civilians. Iranian state television also reports that Mohammed Kazemi was killed in an Israeli attack.

He is the head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also known as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This is the Iranian military elite corps and is separate from the army.

Two other Guard generals were also killed, reports the Iranian state news agency IRNA. Earlier on Sunday, Netanyahu told Fox News that Israel had killed Kazemi.

The attacks by Israel on Iran continue into the night from Sunday to Monday. “The Israeli armed forces are currently carrying out attacks on ground-to-ground missile installations in central Iran. We are responding to this threat from both our own airspace and Iranian airspace,” an IDF army spokesman reported on X.

Trump reportedly stopped Israel from killing ayatollah

US President Donald Trump reportedly stopped an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s supreme leader. That’s according to American officials speaking to several American media outlets, including AP News, CBS News, and news agency Reuters.

Israel has reportedly briefed the Trump administration in recent days on a plan to kill Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump reportedly made it known that he did not support the plan. The government sees the plan as a move that would fuel the conflict and possibly destabilize the region, writes AP News.

Later on Sunday, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu was also asked about the alleged plan in an interview on Fox News. He did not comment on how the US had reacted to the proposal. “But I can tell you that I think we are doing what we need to do,” he said. “And I think the United States knows what is good for the United States.”

In the interview, Netanyahu also said that a new regime in Iran “could certainly be the result” of the conflict between Israel and Iran. According to him, the current Iranian regime is “very weak”.
