Athletic player suspended for ten months after taking medicine against hair loss

Athletic Club Defender Yeray Álvarez Has Been Suspended by Uefa for ten Due to a Positive Doping Test After Taking a Medication for Hair Loss. The European Football Association Acknowledges That There was no intent on the part of the Spaniard.

Álvarez had already leg serving a provisional suspension since June 2nd. The Central Defender can only resume training with athletic club from February 2nd. From April 2nd, he will be allowed to play matches again for the basque club.

“UEFA ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THERE IS NO QUESTION OF INTENT,” Athletic Club Writes in A Statement On Monday. “It has been established that the presence of the prohibited substance in his body is due to a medication against hair loss.”

AltheHOUG UEFA SHOWS Some Understanding for Álvarez’s Situation, The Association does not Turn a Blind Eye. UEFA Believes that Álvarez, Like Every Athlete, is Responsible for his Actions and Should Therefore Have Checked Whether the Medication was Allowed.

Due to the suspension, Álvarez Misses a Large Part of this Season. The Defender is absent in the Entire Competitive Phase of the Champions League. Athletic Club Will Play Against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund in European Competition.

Álvarez Has Been Active with the First Team of Athletic Club Since 2016. He has played 257 Matches for the Current Number Two or La Liga. Álvarez is Still Under Contract in the Basque Country Until Next Summer.
