Armin van Buuren was unable to perform at the Festival op de Ring on Saturday due to the large crowds. The DJ was scheduled to perform with colleague Benwal at the event on the A10 near Amsterdam, but it did not happen.
Van Buuren and Benwal were supposed to do a so-called b2b on the ring road. That is a performance where two DJs take turns behind the turntables.
“Unfortunately, the police did not allow Armin and me to perform due to safety reasons,” Benwal writes with a photo of him and Van Buuren on Instagram Stories. The two DJs look at the camera with a disappointed face. “But the ending was so magical. And that b2b with Armin will happen someday.”
Van Buuren responded to the story with the promise to one day be behind the turntables together.
The Festival op de Ring took place to celebrate the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam. More than 200,000 people went to the capital to attend the event. The organization spoke of a busy but manageable party.
