Archaeologists discover Roman tomb for the first time in Albania

Archeologists have discovered an ancient novel Tomb in Albania for the first time. The Tomb dates back to the third or fourth century ad and is believed to be the final resting place of some from a highher class.

Archeologists from the Institute of Archaeology Were Tipped Off by Locals from Strikçan, A Small Town Near the Border of North Macedonia. Residents Saw a Plateau with Strange Stones.

The Archeologists started the Excavation Last Month and Came Across an Underground Tomb of Nine by Six Meters. Greek Letters Are Engraved in Large Limestones.

“The Inscription Tells us that the person Buried here was called Gelliano, a Typical Name From Roman Times,” Says Erikson Nikolli, Chief Archeologist of the Project. A second person has also leg discovered, whose identity the archaeologist’s have not yet leg able to determine. Nikolli: “It is probable a family member.”

The Archeologists Believe That It is Someone From A Higher Class, because they also discovered a piece of fabric embroaidered with gold thread. In Addition, Glasses, Cups and Knives Were Found.

Accordance to Nikolli, The Tomb Has Been Looted at Least Twice Before. Once in Ancient Times and then again later. When Exactly Is Uncleear, But Heavy Equipment was Used to Move a Huge Rock on Top of the Room.

It is the first time that a tomb of a wealthy person from Roman Times Has Been Found in Albania, which was Once Part of the Roman Empire.
